Long before 2003, innocent people have been martyred by ‘Israel’. However, on March 16th of 2003, something both horrifying & unexpected happened to the whole world, but especially the ‘United States of America’. An American peace activist named Rachel Corrie was killed horrifically by the terror-state ‘Israel’, which at this point is a manifestation of US foreign policy in the Middle East.
Rachel Corrie was born on April 10th of 1979 in Olympia, Washington; the same place she graduated high school & studied in college. She clearly had a passion for human rights, as she noticed the unbelievable terror & isolation that has become normal for the Palestinian people, & chose to travel across the world to stand up for them.
Many people might not know that every Muslim is commanded by Allah SWT in the Quran to defend Masjid Al Aqsa with their wealth & their life. Many people might not take this as seriously as they should, myself included. However, there are many reasons why this area is important to the world, the first being that Palestine is the holy land; the same place Jesus (PBUH) was born. If the holy land of Palestine can be invaded, occupied, taxed & corrupted, what type of example have we set for the rest of the world? Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world, and it’s history should be respected by all. The fact that the world has allowed ‘Israel’ to invade the holy land of Palestine, murder Palestinian people, and tell the world that it’s self-defense is a clear sign of the current state of humanity.
Many born & raised Muslim people have a hard time accepting the duty of protecting Masjid Al Aqsa with their wealth & their life. It’s a huge commitment to make when you live thousands of miles away and/or don’t speak fluent Arabic. At least it feels that way to most of us.
However, a 24 year old ‘American’ girl decided to undertake one of the most outstanding tasks facing humanity & the Muslim world, possibly without knowing that Allah promises a reward for this effort.
I should at least mention that I am also discovering a degree of strength and of basic ability for humans to remain human in the direst of circumstances – which I also haven’t seen before. I think the word is dignity. I wish you could meet these people. Maybe, hopefully, someday you will.
– Rachel Corrie, in an email to her mother, February 28 2003
When Rachel wrote her mother, she was in Palestine, standing up for the human rights of the Palestinian people. She was near Gaza, a southern coastal area currently isolated from society by ‘Israel’. The day she passed, ‘Israel’ was set to demolish yet another Palestinian home with a bulldozer. This is a brutal tactic to force Palestinians to separate from their home. Clearly this is a war-crime & a blatant terrorist act committed by the ‘state’ of ‘Israel’. We would all protest if someone invaded our land & bulldozed our houses (to say the least).
However, ‘Israel’ doesn’t care about protesters; even American citizens. Despite the fact there was an innocent American girl standing in front of the bulldozer, ‘Israel’ literally crushed her to death in order to destroy this Palestinian home.
Muslims are all taught that protecting the sacred land of Palestine, specifically Masjid Al Aqsa, is worth sacrificing your wealth & your life. However, we are clearly falling short of our responsibility as people like Rachel Corrie are still being murdered & persecuted in Palestine to this day.
Please share this heartbreaking story & always remember Palestine.
