There are countless ways that the militarized ‘American’ law enforcement has overstepped the moral boundaries of society and abused the trust they were given. Young men are charged, robbed and/or arrested for the most ridiculous offenses, and young women are often robbed of their spouses for the same ridiculous offenses. It is clear to see how much of a disaster this system has become. However, many people might not realize that law enforcement officers frequently beat their spouse. This is how ‘American’ law enforcement is brutalizing women without a peep from the public.
To begin with, the system that we call ‘American’ law enforcement was created by European settlers on native land. American law enforcement has never had trust with natives, Mexicans, or Africans. They killed natives & stole most of their land, killed Mexicans & stole their land, & killed Africans & enslaved them. But somehow ‘American’ law enforcement feels justified enforcing these laws on natives, Mexicans, & Africans. Even when ‘American’ law is enforced on another white man, it is hypocritical, since law enforcement is a European system & both men are standing on land that belongs to the natives.
But in addition to the murder & fraud that founded the ‘United States of America’, the US law enforcement still can’t manage to follow their own rules. Everyone has probably noticed how the police park wherever they want, whenever they want, knowing they won’t get a ticket. However, they won’t hesitate to harass someone else for being parked slightly improperly. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of police & state hypocrisy.
They are constantly arresting young men for carrying arms, while they carry their own (and often wield it in a threatening manner). These young men get huge sentences for the same act that police are accustomed to as routine. The gun-control issue is still a big problem in US politics.
Also, police arrest many young men for cases of domestic violence, while they beat their own wives at home.
Obviously there are many scenarios where the father or spouse has gone crazy & needs to distance himself from his spouse, or leave completely. It’s important to protect innocent women & children from abusive fathers & spouses. Unfortunately, when this father or spouse happens to be a member of law-enforcement, there is very few repercussions.
Similarly to how US law enforcement brutalizes minorities without meaningful consequences, they brutalize women as well. Many people don’t realize this.
A study on police officers and domestic violence: “The examination of court cases and months of interviews revealed officers not only rarely spend time behind bars for domestic violence, they often receive special privileges because of their law enforcement jobs and connections. Abusive officers routinely found ways around laws that could cost them their jobs. Police departments let abusive officers keep working despite past abuse. Domestic abuse accusations against police rarely result in criminal charges, much less convictions”
The study quoted above was conducted in California.
If we want to have a safe & peaceful society, we can’t allow hypocrisy. Although state & local officials have badges, they are still human, and subject to whatever personal flaws or issues that they have. If a law enforcement officer beats his wife, he should get the same exact punishment he handed out to the fathers & husbands that he helped prosecute. Without the balance that comes with equal punishment, law enforcement will always feel superior to everyone else. ‘America’ has totally lost sight of equality between law enforcement & civilians. American law-enforcement has been totally militarized, while regular citizens have been stripped naked in comparison. Lets be fair & strip law enforcement officers away from their guns & their victimized spouses until they demonstrate that they are humble & mature enough to be responsible & accountable.
