Since the beginning of the prisoner exchange between ‘Israel Defense Forces’ & Palestinian resistance group Hamas, there has been massive controversy. Stark differences have been exposed between the way Israel treats its prisoners versus the way Hamas has treated its prisoners. As a result of the positive testimonies coming from the prisoners of Hamas, corporate sympathizers of Israel have resorted to censoring information in order to continue portraying Hamas as a terror group.
As most people familiar with the conflict know, Facebook has supported the illegal occupation state of Israel for many years. Hamas, the democratically elected ruling party in the Gaza Strip & arguably the legitimate authority of the West Bank, has never been allowed a presence on the social media site. However, Israeli officials have always been able to say whatever they like on the platform.
This is in stark contrast to Twitter, who for a long time had allowed the ruling political parties of both sides to have official social media accounts & issue statements to their respective audiences. It was only a few years ago, shortly prior to the sale of Twitter that Hamas’ page was taken down. This was a huge failure on the part of Twitter to ensure a balanced platform with freedom of speech. Muslims around the world had hope that Elon Musk would help fix the massive level of bias on the platform.
However, Muslims around the world have been disappointed over & over again by platform after platform. Elon Musk never did reinstate the Twitter accounts of the Palestinian resistance. As a matter of fact Twitter even banned Kanye West for quite some time, labeling him antisemitic. He later reversed his decision for Kanye West & Donald Trump, however that did not seem to encourage either influential figure to return to the platform.
Facebook, on the other hand, hasn’t let up a bit on censorship. Mark Zuckerberg has already admitted that US authorities influenced his platform to limit exposure on accounts such as Donald Trump. Facebook has not only targeted the pages of Palestinian resistance groups, but is now drowning out any positive information about the Palestinian resistance whatsoever.
Recently, during the hostage exchange, a prisoner named Mia told interviewers that her custodians were ‘very good, very kind to me’. The video went viral on Twitter, or as Elon Musk now calls it ‘X’. This occurred even despite the fact that Elon Musk has been courted by Israel & prevented from following through with his plan to allow Palestinian aid groups access to Starlink. The account that posted the original video seems to have been deleted, however it has been reposted at the following link.
Social media companies like Facebook & Twitter are buckling under Israeli pressure, refusing to let people share any positive videos about Palestinian resistance whatsoever. However Israeli sympathizers are still allowed to claim that Hamas is an evil terror group that hates all Jewish people.
These social media platforms are effectively enabling Israel to continue murdering & terrorizing innocent families by continuing to portray the merciful Palestinian resistance as a terror group. Israel is using Hamas as an excuse to commit utter genocide against the Palestinian people. It is a very sad & shameful time in world history. Israel is sure to meet the same end as every other oppressor in the history of the world. Hopefully sooner than later.
